I've heard something too many times lately. Church membership is shrinking.
But if anything is true it's this: church is a spirit, not a building.
And if that spirit is having difficulty reaching people through particular buildings, it will adapt.
And this spirit, the spirit of the Lord uses humanity as conduits for his truths. And the same people that can go into a building to talk about the truths can also go out into the world to share them. Not only can they do this but they have a responsibility to.
And if you're one of the people with the ability to sensibly discuss philosophy and theology ... then it's up to you to do it.
It's up to you to get people thinking. It's all of our responsibility. For the next generation's sake let's do something to fill the voids left by declining church membership.
And when you're talking about God with people, always remember that you're talking about a loving God. This is a God who created us out of love. This is a God who created us wanting us to love each other, to look out for each other and to help each other. This is not a scary mean God so remember to never portray him as such.
And when you talk about loving other people and doing good things and you actually do good things and love other people ... you'll get some attention. You'll make a difference in at least a few lives. And those people will go make a difference in a few more lives.
And good things and love will spread. And so will the truth about why good and love are available for us. And more and more people will remember to thank God for the gifts he's given us. And more and more people will keep loving each other as a real life way of showing God thanks for what he's given us.
But it's up to you! It's up to us...
