I know time is limited in life. But by spending some time on yourself you can make all of your other time so much more productive.

My dogs (my babies) started getting bellies over the winter. Well, really they've probably been growing over the last two years. Ever since I moved back to Michigan and they didn't have a big ranch to run around, they slowly but surely had been gaining weight.

I figured the only way to deal with that is to get them proper exercise. So now we've been running a few miles a day.

And to be honest, I never had done much running before. I've played a lot of sports but unless I was running to score something I never saw much point in it.

Now I do...

By the time I'm done running every day I need a bath towel just to dry off. Then I get a quick drink and shoot some baskets or do some push-ups or something like that.

And after exercise I always eat well. Red meat, fruits and veggies are what I try filling myself with (though I'm still a little light on the veggies).

And after all that's done (and my shower's done too) I have more energy than ever. The running doesn't wear me out, it reinvigorates me.

I know some people can't run or are worried too because they are afraid of an injury (though studies show that runners have less leg injuries through life than people that don't run). But even if running isn't your thing, you can pick some kind of exercise to do.

Yet minds are a funny thing. It's usually what's in someone's head that keeps them from exercising. Something tells people it would be so much easier to not have to work up a sweat. Even when I go running something tells me that maybe I don't really need to run 2.5 miles; maybe one mile would be okay. But when I keep pushing I feel so much better.

I feel better because of the health aspects and because I'm able to overcome whatever's in my mind trying to hold me back.

It's almost like the little angel and devil on my shoulders. One saying to run and one saying to sit. One wanting me healthy and the other wanting me to deteriorate.

I want to stay healthy. I'm not getting old anytime soon. And I want the energy to keep writing and writing.

And I hope you'll stay healthy ... so you can keep reading and reading.

And I hope you'll stay healthy so you can be there for all of the people in your lives that need you.

All my thoughts,

kw
