Actually, I enjoy summer because with the kids being out of school, they help me get my housework done! LOL! Then I'm not so bogged down with it on Saturdays. Well, it's nearly lunch time here and I've got some more stuff I need to get done to earn my keep around here. Take care and I'll TTYL!

Hey! Things are really good! Much less stress not having to worry about every woman I see trying to book a party, or worse, having someone book and then cancel at the last minute, costing me hundreds of dollars. I've been selling down my inventory as much as possible. It's amazing at how people will get it when it half off to them. (It's way overpriced at the regular price.) I haven't sent it back, yet. I want to sell out as much as possible first. Everything in my stock is 1/2 off, which is at cost for me. I decided not to use any more of the mineral powder foundation from Mary Kay because it's primary ingredient is talc. I just ordered some mineral powder foundation without talc from Bare Minerals. My mom uses it and she says it is far superior to Mary Kay. Sadly, I just ordered some of new summer mineral eye colors from Mary Kay. Oh, well, most of the eye shadows that you buy in department stores have talc for their main ingredient. Anywho...we had a nice 4th. We went to Wilmington last night to see the fireworks. They put on an excellent display. Wilmington is about a 45 minute ride from our house, and there are other firework shows that are closer, but Wilmington's fireworks are just really good. Well, let me run. I need to do a bit more housework and I have some neighbors coming over to go through my inventory of Mary Kay and purchase whatever their heart's content. Oh, how is your wife's friend doing in the Mary Kay business?

Hey!
Thanks for you comment, I get a kick out of Glen Beck, and I do notice that he really gets dramatic, however, at least for appearing on a CNN station, he is cool, and leans toward the conservative side.

As far as living in Las Vegas, I have been living here for one year and six months. When I first moved out here, not only was is terribly cold, for me anyway, I lived in Whittier, CA. Whittier is just east of L.A. I say about 15 miles. So the weather was almost always nice.

When I moved out here I was also shocked with the coldness of people. In Whittier, everywhere I went, everywhere I ran, (I like running) we always said "Good Morning" "Good Afternoon" "Hello, and how are you today" It was nice. My first day at shopping at the supermarkets or anyplace over here, well, it reaked havoc on my soul and mind.

I quickly began to get all these weired vibes, thoughts about, hey! maybe my smile is not big enough, or maybe the men think I am or all sorts of things like that, the women I figured must think I smile and say hello for reasons other than just being friendly. "I mentioned a bit about my findings upon moving to Vegas in my blog, if you are interested, here is a link to the posting." http://www.ralopez.com/mt/archives/2007_01.html

I prayed on it and realized that I cannot give up on people, they just have to accept that I am here, and no matter how I feel, I have the Holy Spirit of God, and I want to show kindness and love to everyone. A smile or a warm hello, well, it can help, especially with people who for some reason or other may be having a tough time, or perhaps because of to many let downs just feel alienated to people and life. It is a tough world we live in, but we must be different.

I don't have close friends here, we lost my Dad, in December, I moved over here with my parents, we got together purhased a home, all along my Dad had been fighting cancer. In early 2007 it took hold of him, so we moved over here together. I have a Sister and Bro-in-law and a nephew and 3 neices who have lived here for 18 years. So I have them as friends, and it is now just my Mom and I here in this home.

Well, once again thanks.
Richard

Yeah...those things take full time work and it just didn't work out. God used this to get me to reconnect with a good friend that I haven't seen in a while, so we're still going to get together even though I'm not doing it anymore and we're not going to do a party. So I think it's God's way of getting me to reconnect with her for some reason.

Hey, Roy! Robert (aka sodaknomad) was just on here and we keep missing each other. In the rare instance that we're on together, I try to instant message him, but he always gets off before we can connect! LOL! Anywho, how are you? I've quit the Mary Kay thing. Too much time and it's keeping me from putting God first. I'm also bugging my friends to death, although they love me too much to say that, I know that I am because I'm driving me crazy with it! LOL! But I've got one more shipment coming in this week and once it's in, I'll get the stuff that I want to keep out (it's paid for) and use it and then ship the rest back. What are you up to?

WOW! That's cool! I'd love to see more pics. I would love to be able to have the real thing! It's wild at how the canvas or masonite looks so much like stone! I guess that's the effect that you were going for. Now, tell me about the one with the three pieces that are hanging. What is the story behind that one?

Hi Mary,

Thank you for your compliments. Most of my current pieces are actually canvas or masonite or a combination of both. The medium is generally acrylic, however I am inclined to use many different substances to create texture.

The only representational items which I paint are the crosses. (you can see a couple of the small ones and of course the piece "By the Blood of the King" is fair sized at 39" square by 4 1/2" deep. Some of my pieces are fairly large up to 8' across at times.

Some of the pieces posted are available (By the Blood of the King for one) and I'd be happy to e-mail you more photos if you wish.

It's hard to see all that is going on in the small photos posted. The piece "By the Blood of the King" is one for certain. There are 25 small crosses on top of the cross which form a cross, add to that the main cross and you have 27 crosses. (one for each book in the NT) Inside of each of the 4 squares are the crucifixion scenes from each of the Gospels (NIV). These pages of scripture have been stained red to represent the cruifixion and the blood shed for all. The center of the cross has a cross overlayed with 24 carat gold leaf (toned down with thin acrylic paint) representing the "King", and behind that cross is textured purple paint, again representing the "King" (purple is the color of royalty and in some cultures could only be worn by the King or Queen).

Sorry to be so long winded ;)

Hope your week is going well, and may your Memorial Day week end be memoriable! Remember those who have served this Country!

God Bless,
Roy

I like your work. What kind of materials do you use? It looks almost like stone or something of that sort. I'd love to have some of your work. I love lighhouses and our home is decorated with lighthouses. Do you do anything along those lines?

Hey, Roy! The church is coming along. I keep having one person who will say she is going to book, but then she keeps backing out on me. So I'll enjoy this weekend without having to do so much. But I have several for next week, so we'll see where that goes. Sometimes, that happens. But it'll be ok. I just need to place 2 orders and I don't quite have the money I need to, so I'm going to tweak one of them so that I can get a few things in. Well, let me run. I have the other job that needs my attention, too. Have a great weekend and I'll TTYL!

Good Monday Morning, Roy!

I hope your weekend was a good one! One of my parties backed out, but that's to be expected. I got in all but 2 of my 30 facials and I should get those tonight. I've got 10 ladies scheduled at a booking tonight, so that'll be intersting. Much over 8 and it gets chaotic. I just hope that my money will do better this evening and that I can look at potential team members.

Got some paperwork to do here, so I'd better get to it. Have a good day and I'll TTYL!

Mary

Thanks for the comment! I'm waiting to hear on one of the parties and am praying that they won't back out. I booked 6 parties yesterday and hope that they'll all keep them. I have some more to try to book tonight. I got the names from a drawing yesterday when I did my show at Hi-Lites, so I'm trying to work bookings off of that. If your wife likes Mary Kay, I can certainly hook her up. She can email me with an order and I can send it to her. Let me know!

Well, gotta run and earn my millions by seeing my clients! LOL! Have a great weekend!

TTYL!
Mary
